That's pretty ridiculous. Some people just have that "there is an I in raid" mentality.

Our guild is much like yours where everything obtained in a raid goes back in the guild bank to fund enchants and repairs. Most recently we're spending more on repairs than we're gaining from selling BoEs because, just like you said, the market sucks now.

Instead of giving out gems and flasks for free, I like the idea of selling them to people at half the AH price. I'll have to pass that along to the other officers.

Raid groups work as a team. You have to be a team player to be successful. Money is also a part of raiding and if you don't want to put the time and effort in to doing dailies or playing the AH, then don't raid. No one likes carrying people. Hell, I blow my Shadow Priests Ulduar save just to go in and mine the Saronite node in Vezax's room for the guild because I like having free repairs and enchants.

What we do is ask people to put 50g a week into the gbank. That's what, about 4 dailies worth which people make very quickly... And if you have 130 people it's making a difference.

We don't let people repair from the guild... But we DO hold lotterys where people can win epic BOEs or even 3000g that has been saved up from the money deposited.

We DO let people skin bosses (skinners or engineers) if it comes up. But at the same time, if asked to put in the gb I know they wouldn't kick up a stink about it. Just think of it this way - at least he showed his true colours now instead of at a really important time.

As horrible as this sounds, I'm glad I'm reading your experience. I just went through this myself, and was about to make a blog about it.

It really sucks when good members -and sometimes friends- turn on you.

Now that I've downgraded to 10-mans as well I'm also concerned about keeping the guild bank stocked for guildies. It used to be that everything was available to everyone, until I found out the biggest user of flasks and enchanting mats was non-raiding member.

We're not that affluent that we can afford to have materials earned in raid go down the gullet of a non-raider (who is otherwise a nice guy, but didn't quite understand that items in a tab marked for raiding should be used for raiding), so now all enchanting mats, flasks, and herbs for flasks go into a tab only accessible by raiders.

Anything else is still pretty much open to anyone, but we definitely need everything we earn from raids. Our bank funds are pretty flat at the moment and I'm thinking of selling off some of the guild bank items that nobody seems to be using just so we can get more money for raid mats.

Anyway, I think you were compeltely justified in kicking that guildie. It might have hurt, and goodness knows I've looked forward to skinning Mimiron myself on my engineering pally, but his response was completely out of line.

You are certainly more generous than we are. We will supply 4 flasks once a week, we provide everyone with abyss crystals for enchants, and we turn on the guild bank for repairs only for special circumstances.

Granted, we also do not ask for anyone to contribute to the guild bank, and greys/greens/ore, etc go to whomever loots the item. But, we are also able to sell 25 man BoEs, orbs, crafted items from orbs and gems to generate cash for the guild bank.

Eh...there is too much to worry about to have to deal with folks that don't want to be part of the team. I think you made the right decision.

This really is a sad story. It makes me wonder if he had other problems that this suddenly became the straw that broke the camel's back.

Your rules for repairs are extremely generous, much more so than other guilds I've seen. Perhaps folks need to be reminded of that from time to time?

DPS is very replaceable. This principle hasn't changed since classic WoW. Some people need reminded of that from time to time.

Ah well.

Some guilds do it differently, but your system makes sense to me. Even back in the Molten Core days with core leather and the other crafting drops they would always go to the guild.

And if someone doesn't want to go along with values and vision of the guild, the don't belong and should be removed.

I am lucky in my current guild. We sold a few OS+3 drake runs in the early days. And the 25man boe drops give us a steady income. Grepairs are only turned on for progression raids (which lately has been wiping on heroic25 faction champs).

I am usually the only skinner in the raid so that is a steady source of mats. (I just people would loot ALL the worms in the Hodir trash!) I keep some handy in my bank and dump the rest into the gbank. Most guildies supply their own mats for crafting though.

Wow, you pay for alt repairs, too? Can I have invite? ;)

I always thought it was logical that raid mats went to create raid supplies. It's always surprising and disappointing when you find people don't have that same viewpoint. It's a matter of respect for the rest of the guild/raid members, in my opinion.

Our guild is good about having feasts and flasks available whenever, but I'm stubborn and like to only tap into that resource when I really need it.

As for being "paid" to raid, um, well. Let's see. You get badges, and most likely, loot. Hm. You are getting something for a service. Sounds like pay to me. :)

Also, I did like the imagery of "skinning" Mim. LOL. He deserves to be skinned, that turd.
