We ended up doing the axe quest on putricide this week. I didn't know we were ready for it already and I had not yet respeced. I offered to respec for the fight, but was told we'd try a few without me respecig first. We got it on the second try despite him burning 100 energy on the quest. Upon discussing it farther I was told by our normal abom tank that energy just isn't an issue for him. I guess different people might play the abom differently, but for me at least I guess i'll go w/o revitalize till I get that sexy haste staff and don't need celestial focus!

We did some work with 25 Putricide last night.

It averaged about 160-200 energy per fight, though I'm not sure if the other tree and myself were both keeping rejuv at all times.

Even so, our offtank said he could really tell the difference!

I've been told that when it comes time to make the legendary axe, part of the process of making it involves being in the Abom suit and using an ability that costs 100 energy. I haven't gone back to revitalize (...yet) but knowing that it can help on this fight makes it tempting. I'm still not sure I won't try it Tuesday! I think there is a good chance I will give it a shot and see if they think it's making a noticeable difference!

Just wanted to reiterate a point:

I'm not putting Rapid Rejuvenation in particularly for this fight - I was already using it. I find it very good for:

- the reactive nature of a lot of the damage (slime, m.goo, etc)
- fast ticks on anyone taking heavy damage
- fast ticks on P3, healers and tanks (when the damage is insane)

and, of course, with the Abom, there is the added advantage of faster ticks = faster energy return - but it's not the main reason I have RR in.

We usually run with 2 druids also, so covering the raid is not a problem.

TLDR: I always used RR for this fight, I'm not going out of my way to swap it in just to give the Abom energy.

Grr :P

I'm still unconvinced on the spirit vs seed thing. I use Nourish a fair bit, but it's usually as a top-up heal on random people who probably won't take damage again immediately, so seed is near pointless in this situation. It's really only going to get any kind of mileage when I'm healing tanks for any period of time, and that is very, very rare. And, of course, on situational stuff like someone targetted by an ooze, etc.

But, overall, in terms of "value", I just think I would prefer to have that extra spellpower permanently, rather than something that relies on crits, and will only ever get used when I'm spamming heals on someone, which is extremely rare. I don't think the value is there.

Plus - I need to drop my tailoring cloak enchant and pick up the 23 haste enchant, while I'm not haste-capped.. and I just swapped out Sliver for Abacus - so I'm noticing a slight strain on mana on some new fights. I don't think I want to drop that spirit.

Personal taste, I suppose.

Definitely looking forward to a couple of haste pieces to make the decision easier for me. As suggested, soon I'll have little use for NG, since Nourish will be clipping, and it's rare that I would be casting multiple Regrowths around in a row. I won't like losing it in 10s.. but it shouldn't hurt too much. As I said earlier, I just shy away from dropping NG because last time I did it, it was extremely noticeable for me, and I hated it.

I'll probably swap out NG for seed once I have my new chest and enchant my cloak - I'll be at 832 then. Close enough! :P

Aye, the Abom can manage Putricide without Revitalize, but the energy gain:expenditure mechanic is very tightly tuned and gives him very little time to DPS between slurping goo and spitting it back out, and the 80% tear gas transition can be very problematic. With just one druid spec'd revitalize, without needing the RR glyph, all this goes away and you'll find that the Abom is actually way up there on the DPS meters--not bad considering that it's generally a tank driving it!

Re: Living Spirit, the spellpower component of it is very weak--at 1500 pre-talent spirit (which is a large overestimation I think--I have pretty good gear and I'm at 983 base), you're only getting something like 12~13 spellpower per talent point. (=1500*0.05*0.15*1.12) If you're not putting the mana recovery of the talent to full use, seed will give you a lot more mileage and add a lot more punch to your punchy spells.

But, after regemming tonight, I'm set to finally return to 11/60 spec with 853 haste rating, so I won't have to choose between seed and spirit and barkskin; I get them all!

Jurik: we killed him without using Revitalize on the abom, but as I said in my post - anything to make things a bit smoother is ok in my book. There have been times that the abom controller has been short on energy - I can fix that!

As for swapping Living Spirit and Living Seed.. I'm not sure dropping spellpower, even if it is a smallish amount, is good tradeoff for Living Seed, which I will basically only get use out of for a very short period in the fight...? Mostly I am rolling HoTs around the raid, and in P3, those Rejuv ticks have to be as big as possible. Any heals on the tanks are purely supplementary - I think I would rather keep my spellpower as high as possible.

Aerivore: I was using RR anyway, I'm not swapping it in specially :)

Tiroq: I'm not currently haste capped. Not far from it though, so I may start swap back into LS, thanks for the suggestion. I'm just wary of dropping NG because the last time I did it (granted this was back before all the haste changes) I really felt the difference, and I hated it. I also never had 4pc T9 because my guild only reformed a week before Icecrown.

Jasyla: I think it saved my life on Putricide P3 by giving me a tiny bit more time to heal before I died. That's good enough for me! I stand still for Bone Storm too :P
