As of today they changed how you get charms, I got some as I was healing heroics (not many, but some), and they hotfixed the ulduar method.

Go to the Shadow Vault in Icecrown and get the daily quest “Shoot ‘Em Up” from The Leaper. Fly over, get into the gun, and shoot away at the Jotunheim Proto-Drakes. I got about 50 in less than 20 mins. Just be sure to have the quest otherwise you can’t get into the gun.

I completely agree, it is a stupid design.

As stupid as when I tried to do the Christmas achievement on my baby druid who had just hit 80. Turns out that the gnome costume disappears when you shapeshift… *sigh*

I agree with you guys it sucks. I grabbed my fiancee who plays a prot pally and we did our dailies together – she collected them all and we split them up.

We both have the achievement so we are only in it for the pet and farming the mount

Oh I am SO glad to be done with holiday events. I try helping others where possible like parking my Dwarf hunter in Dalaran and clicking debuffs off … why? Because I feel your pain !

I do have to say the holiday revamp is ALOT better than last year – ALOT better … holy shit I just realised my druid has been 80 for a year

i think for the duration of this holiday, healers should be too busy to be available for healing. and if asked why, say it takes a long time for us to get enough love charms.

Just go to Ice Crown like your going to do the Battle before the Citadel daily, mount, and kill all the non elite skeletons near the Commanders. Healer or not. let the mount do the work (just another way similar to Uld but you dont need to be in a raid grp).

I was trying to explain this to a m8 in guild last night to no avail. He simply couldn’t see where I was coming from because my secondary spec is Boomchicken. “I don’t see the big deal, just go lazer chicken and grind them?”

We rolled healers because we like to HEAL. :\

I was pretty upset while healing some normal instances to get the rose bouquet with some guildies to see that everyone but me was getting tons of Charms. I was able to nab a few while DPSing in between Rejuvs, but still, I came out with three or four vs. tens that the others would collect.

And then, another guildie, also a healer, pointed out that you can get the Charms from doing the Icecrown bombing dailies. No need to find someone to make a raid with you to head into Ulduar. No need to swap to boomkin spec and grind mobs or dailies on the ground (or, Earthmother forbid, try to do it in tree spec). I just flew my feathery butt out to the goblins, asked for a ride and bombed Scourge and gargoyles until I had a bag full of Charms. And the goblins gave me gold for doing it, too!

No, it doesn’t really mitigate the fact that Blizzard made it much easier for DPS classes to get this done, nor does it mitigate the red-headed-stepchild feeling that many healers likely have at the mechanic behind it, but is another alternative for getting the holiday items and achievements that doesn’t require a loophole or heal-spec grinding.
