Alrighty – here are my Power Auras exports for balance.

Remember: these settings have my auras show up at the bottom of my screen, off to the right of the middle. You will need to adjust the X/Y settings to put them in the spot that you prefer.

Eclipse

My eclipse notifications are actually two effects on top of each other; a coloured rune, and then the spell icon on top. You don’t have to do this of course, you can use one or the other, but as a beginner moonkin I wanted it to be as plain as day which spell I had to cast.

So I made a green rune with a Wrath icon for Solar Eclipse, and a purple rune with a Starfire icon for Lunar Eclipse, so there was no doubt what to do when they popped up.

Long cooldowns

This is useful to remind you that an ability is “ready to go”. You could also attach an alarm sound, to alert you to when something comes off cooldown and is ready to go again – this is very useful. Just don’t use it on short cooldowns or it will drive you nuts.

Note: the timers you see on the icons are where the cooldown timers will show when the ability is not ready. When it’s ready to go, you’ll see an icon; when the ability is down, you’ll just see a number in that spot, telling you how long you have to wait.

Starfall icon (with cooldown timer):

Question! I’m already using Power Auras for all sorts of good stuff, including the Starfall and Force of Nature cooldowns. I have them set to show the icon when the ability is ready, positioned and sized exactly where I want them, and don’t want to have to go through all that setup again so I won’t import your code lines up there… but I would like to add the timers for the cooldowns. Can you give a brief description of what to put where in the setup screen to get the timers to show? :)

    Sure!

When you edit your aura, down about halfway in the window you should see tabs for Activation, Animation, etc. There should be a Timer tab.

Hop into that one, click “show”. (Make sure you have clicked “test” so you can see where it’s going to go).

Then you can use the X and Y sliders to position it in the right place.

Let me know if you’re still having troubles, and I can take some screenshots to explain a little better :)

While I am not a boomkin, I’ve used your discussions/examples of Power Auras to help me with my toon. Just wanted to say thanks.

btw. Just thinking that you might want to reserve the domain name downfeatherjacket.com.

Hmmm question for you, I am MS tank and noooow instead of resto OS BOOOOOMCHICKEN (in mostly resto gear… ahem)! Annnnnd I love your strings for it, so far I only have the wrath/starfire I added them and adjusted as we were walking into a 25man toc pug so I didnt have a lot of fiddle time.
What do you use for your moonfire and IS?? I am using squawk and awe but I find that it is cluttering my screen, and I have moved the timers but they dont want to stay :s Do you have strings for MF/IS when they fall off your target? Or how do you track them? There has to be an easier way!

    Thanks!

I lose powerauras. I run 5 toons in dual spec, and lose track of which ones have priorities, rotations and procs. So I have auras set up for abilities on cooldown, with them visible in a priority-like order. Allows me to be “okay-quality” with the alts that get less love.

Once you get past the learning curve, this addon is amazing. Some other hunter has aspect of the wipe on in combat? Powa for that. My priest forgot inner fire? Not with Powa. Missed a trinket proc? Powa didn’t miss it. Didn’t notice that Faerie fire was not on my target? Powa noticed.
    And so on.

    @Kiramaren.
My way around Moonfire and IS seems to work, might be worth a try for you.

I have a marker for the debuff “moonfire” (my cast, on enemy target) with a timer. I also have another aura in the same place on screen, with the same marker in flashing red, without a timer, with the condition inverted. I can see instantly if my target lacks the debuff, or – if present, how long it has left.
    Likewise for IS.

These make it really easy to plan the next spell – whether I have time to cast one more non-eclipsed starfire before needing to refresh Moonfire/IS.

(I use similar for a shadow priest, with his three dots and a pair of non-instant nukes.)

I used PowerAuras for moonfire and insect swarm, but since they were also popping up as debuffs on my target, it was doubling up and felt cluttered. So I just use debuff icons (with text timers) now.

I can’t use bar-style mods, I’m blind to them for some weird reason.

On my shadow priest I have PAs for things like “you don’t have a Pain up on this mob” which is pretty cool. I could probably do something similar for moonkin – but debuff icons seem to be working ok.

Switching my resto offspec to moonkin to help out with some fights that need ranged.

Your power auras settings are perfect: clear and functional, but with some eye-candy (love the runes).

    Thanks for sharing them!

You’re welcome! I love them now that I’ve settled into them.

Although I might make Starfall a bit bigger, so it’s huge and obvious and I can hit it immediately.

    Macroed to a /yell: “STARFALL TIEM!!!111″

    Yeah.
