Blog tools: Wibiya
This is so cute and funky, I had to grab it. It’s called Wibiya – a super easy to install footer toolbar for your blog or website.
You can customise the applications that you show – including a share button, YouTube gallery, Twitter dashboard, a really nice search function, and best of all for bloggers, a real-time indicator of how many people are on the site *right now*. They have a bunch of applications, and keep adding more.

It’s easy to use – took me 10 minutes to install. You can choose your apps, your theme colours (I like purple), and then you grab the install code or file and you’re ready to go. So easy. There’s a free version (that I’m using), plus various paid versions also, with greater flexibility to design your toolbar and have it integrate seamlessly into your site.
So – enjoy! I highly recommend the search, it is much better than my current search at the top of the page (which I will now probably ditch, since it’s superfluous). I know I also have doubles of the RSS and Share function, but I’m not too worried about that. Love the new search though, I was just thinking today that I needed to fix the search that I have to give better results (like my old theme) – but now I won’t have to, because Wibiya’s search is great. Give it a try!
Had a hiccup with IE (I loathe that browser) but Wibiya’s troubleshooting is very good. I think it’s all good now, but please let me know if it’s not displaying nicely in your browser.
I’m always trying to think of ways to make the site easier and more enjoyable to use – what do you think?

My name is Emma and I live in Australia. I’ve been gaming on and off since I was about 11. I won’t tell you exactly how long ago that was, let’s just say long enough.

It seems that it will only show the Tweet count (and probably the FB like count) on the entry pages, not on the index page. I think that’s because I used the website copy/paste code rather than the WordPress code, which wasn’t working for me earlier.
So the main page will probably always say “Tweet: 0″ (sadface!)
Pretty cool to be able to see how many people are on the site.

I like the random feature. It’s the like the random LFD tool, but with guaranteed success.

The search is fantastic.

I can even see which pages are being viewed right now – eg 3 people viewing this post; one viewing Grid vs Healbot; one looking through my mods category. And it changes in real time.
How awesome is that.

You are right to loathe IE6, it makes you an objectively better person to do so.
That browser is the cause of more headaches for web developers than probably anything else.

OK, the search, random and online map features could (could? Fine, will) keep me amused for quite some time. So shiny……
