Resto Druid Patch 4.2 Guide
Hello my dear druids. I’ve missed you!
The fact that I wrote the “I might quit” article and then went AWOL probably made people think that I’d just walked off. I haven’t quit. I won’t go into a long-winded explanation of what’s been going on. I can sum it up as:
- family
- health
- personal
- guild struggles and people letting me down
- = BOOM
and for the first time ever, I abandoned WoW and my blog entirely, because I simply couldn’t fit it in, and had no energy or desire to, anyway. Everything was making me too weary.
At one stage I thought I might quit the game, but I still really enjoy it. I thought I would quit my blog because of lack of time and energy; I thought I’d just play the game and relax, but every time I go through my reader I see articles I wish I had written, and conversations I wish I had been involved in, and I know that I’m not ready to stop writing. I miss it so much, and I miss helping people! I may need to cut back on posting a bit compared to in the past, but at the very least I want to keep maintaining my site/s as a general reference for resto druids. I still have a bunch of drafts that I want to finish and share, so I’ll see how I go at making time. I’m not sure entirely, so it will be a wait-and-see kind of deal.
I do apologise to those of you who may have written to me in the last couple of months while I’ve been out of action. I have tried to go back and find any old emails and answer them, but if I missed yours, I’m sorry.
Despite feeling not terribly enthused about 4.2 itself, I still have a lot of enthusiasm for updating my guide and helping people to prepare, and to raid. I barely touched heroics in T11, which is very unlike me, but guild and realm stability issues got in the way, and that’s that. No sense crying over it, or feeling like I can’t help people because I’m not decked in heroic gear and I don’t have all the achievements. I may not see much of heroics in T12 either, but at the very least I can help new and rerolling players with the basics, which is what I enjoy doing.
So I’ve put together a 4.2 guide in the spirit of my “Quick Start” cheat sheet – everything you need to know in a neat, concise, straight to the point guide. Though I do like explaining things in detail, there are often times (like now, actually) where I just want to know where I need to go, who I need to talk to, what I need to buy, and what has to change with my spec or play style. I can go back and study the details later – just tell me what I have to know, and be quick about it!
So here it is:
I’ve also updated RestoDruid.info to be current for 4.2 – there are still a couple of sections that need to be done (eg the fresh 85 page), but the existing information has been updated. Note: there may still be some rogue references to Symbiosis. Also, I’m publishing this before the 4.2 release, so I’m using PTR Wowhead tooltips; if this causes issues I will update the tooltips as soon as I can.

My name is Emma and I live in Australia. I’ve been gaming on and off since I was about 11. I won’t tell you exactly how long ago that was, let’s just say long enough.

I still say roll an Alliance Druid on Cael and see how the other half lives
I might have to get back into healing on my 2nd druid now that I’ve had one foot nailed to the floor about being off-spec Boomer on my Bear, so since I haven’t done it since ICC, I think I’ll have to keep this open on the other screen.
